Minimally invasive surgery and imaging
The Candidate of Sciences dissertation (1994) was devoted to the use of retroperitoneoscopy in surgery of the retroperitoneal organs; the Doctor of Sciences dissertation (2003) — to radiological diagnosis and minimally invasive surgery of the male genital organs.
From 2007 to 2020 the professor headed the Department of Andrology and Urology at the Endocrinology Research Centre, and earlier the Centre for Minimally Invasive Uroandrology at Clinical Hospital No. 6 of the FMBA of Russia.
Own developments and patents
Ten patents for inventions have been obtained. Among the most recent — patent No. 2867925, "Method of increasing penile thickness", registered on 11 August 2026 with a priority date of 14 October 2025; the exclusive right runs until 14 October 2045.
The domestic silicone implant developed together with colleagues has passed toxicological tests and holds a certificate of conformity and a Roszdravnadzor registration certificate. How it works is described in the articles section.
Clinical studies
In 2021 a survey of 2,865 women aged 18–48 was conducted (Kurbatov D. G., Malinina O. Yu.): 83% of participants rated partner penile girth as more important and 17% rated length. These data underpin the emphasis on girth in the thickening technique.

Teaching and international experience
Professor Kurbatov trained at clinics in Europe, South Korea, and the USA; he received his key surgical skills and tactical approaches from Academician Sava Perovic (Serbia).
He runs master classes for surgeons and speaks at professional congresses — the presentation on the new technology of permanent penis enlargement at the Euro-Asian Urological Congress is available in the video section, and the schedule of training events is on the master classes page.
