Thickening Technique Presented at a Urology Congress: 10 Surgeries, 12-Month Follow-Up
The first scientific publication of the technique: Professor Kurbatov's paper in the proceedings of the 2026 Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urologists — figures from the first surgical series and the authors' conclusions.
On 30–31 May 2026, Moscow hosted the Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urologists (UROVERSE — The Future of Urology). The official congress proceedings include the paper by Professor D. G. Kurbatov and S. A. Kibets, “First experience of surgical penile thickening with a permanent silicone implant” — the first scientific publication of the results of the technique used and described on this site.
What the paper covers
The authors describe the problem: today’s main thickening methods — subcutaneous injections of hyaluronic or polylactic acid — give an unpredictable and short-lived effect, as the injected material is resorbed. The aim of the work was to develop and introduce a safe surgical thickening method with a predictable, permanent result.
The solution is a Russian-made implant of soft medical-grade silicone that has passed toxicological testing and holds a certificate of conformity. The 6–7 mm implant is placed under the skin of the penis along the cavernous bodies through a subcoronal incision and is shaped to the size of the organ. Results of the first surgical series
In 2025–2026, 10 volunteers were operated on; all signed informed consent. Key figures from the publication:
- surgery duration — 60 ± 15 minutes;
- hospital stay — 1–2 days;
- baseline flaccid circumference — 7.2–8.6 cm, immediately after surgery — 11.8–13.5 cm;
- circumference gain — from 3.2 to 5 cm;
- follow-up from 1 to 12 months: no implant displacement, infection, seroma, or impairment of erection or sensitivity was recorded.
After resuming intimate life, patients reported an improvement in its quality. A priority certificate for the patent “Method for increasing penile thickness” No. 2025128190 of 14 October 2025 was obtained for the method; in August 2026 patent No. 2867925 was registered.
The authors’ conclusions
The authors name as the main advantages the permanence of the achieved enlargement and the predictability of the result, the absence of negative effects on erection and sensitivity, and the natural appearance and feel of the organ. The wording of the conclusions is deliberately cautious, as is customary in a scientific publication: the technique is promising but requires further study and accumulation of clinical experience.
Why this matters
For a patient this publication means two things. First, the technique has gone through the path required of any new surgical technology: a clinical series, long-term follow-up, and a report to the professional community. Second, the figures quoted on this site are not marketing promises but data presented to fellow urologists at a specialist congress.
