Fillers or Implant: How Penis Thickening Methods Differ
A comparison of hyaluronic acid injections and the silicone implant: mechanics, predictability, durability of the result, and reversibility.
Two fundamentally different approaches are used to increase penile girth: injections of fillers under the skin and placement of a silicone implant. Below — how they differ in mechanics, predictability, and durability of the result.
Injectable methods
The main methods in this group are subcutaneous injections of hyaluronic acid or polylactic acid. Volume is created by the material injected under the skin; no surgery is required.
The key limitation is that the injected graft resorbs over time. This makes the result of such methods unpredictable and short-lived, and as it partially resorbs the effect may become aesthetically poor.
The silicone implant
The second approach is placing a synthetic implant of soft medical-grade silicone under the skin of the organ. In Professor Kurbatov’s view, this technology is the optimal one for penis thickening: it gives a predictable girth increase and preserves the natural appearance of the organ. The technique is widely used abroad and is gradually being introduced in Russia.
Professor Kurbatov and his colleagues developed a domestic implant of medical-grade silicone, 6–7 mm thick. The material has passed toxicological tests and holds a certificate of conformity and a Roszdravnadzor registration certificate. Patent No. 2867925 has been granted for the method of increasing penile thickness.

What else matters
Implant placement does not impair erectile function or reduce penile sensitivity. Both girth and the length of the organ at rest are increased. The surgery is characterized by low trauma and minimal risk of complications. Circumcision is recommended for a better aesthetic result.
In some cases thickening with an implant is combined with ligamentotomy — a single procedure then addresses both girth and length.
How the technique is chosen
The decision is made at an in-person consultation: the surgeon assesses the anatomy, decides on the approach, and gives individual recommendations. Medical indications relate to objective anatomical or functional disorders, aesthetic ones to the patient’s wish to change appearance or size; in both cases the decision is made together with the doctor.
